This is a very nice hill going through the redwoods next to Nisene Marks State Park. I had recorded this on my app but I messed up the recording and I cant get the accurate numbers of the steepness. My guess is that it has a 20% grade. I will find out next time if I can manage to record it properly.
At the top of the hill is an old apple orchard in a bright clearing. The apples have all fallen now and a family of deer is eating them. One particular female with 2 fawns born this Spring caught my eye. She watched me cautiously as her family ate. No one seemed in a hurry to leave the apples and run away.
It was 37 degrees last night and the shade of the redwoods keeps the hills from warming up, even though the temperatures rose into the fifties. Winter time in Northern California. My ears and nose could feel it. Move to California and you turn into a wimp and can’t handle real weather anymore.
